Last year the Houston Texans, division champs, Superbowl contender and All-star players. This year the teams a bust, with another injury to Arian Foster, Matt Schaub getting booed, and the defense playing absolutely terrible; the Houston Texans have a problem. The Texans are currently last place in their division at 2-11, following another loss to another horrible team the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-9). At this point the predicted Superbowl contenders at the start of the season, are now the laughing stock of the AFC. Maybe next year!

I Solved the Curious Case of Benjamin Button!
12th man or what in Seattle? 14-0 at home in the last two years, the Seahawks are playing great ball as they have the best record in the NFC to show for it. So what's the 12th man, Seattle's fans are the 12th man because of how loud they are in the stadium. So is the 12th man a real factor? Does the level of noise really factor into a team's chance of winning? Well it may not directly correlate to the Seahawks winning but the Saints certainly heard the noise Monday night as they lost 34-7.

My Train of Thought Has Been Delayed!
Well, guess what? I forgot to blog the last two weeks, but good news is to come. My mind made it back safely from the traveling of Thanksgiving. I travel three hours for dinner, that's completely worth it, then travel all the way back for more food. You have to be so thankful for the many things in your life even if they don't always seem the greatest. One thing, I'm am grateful for outside of family, friends, and food is certainly technology. Could imagine the world without a microwave? Computer? Or even a TV? We use technology everyday, and most of us don't appreciate it. So after reading this blog, I want you to find the nearest piece of technology and give it a big hug, because honestly you have a lot to thank technology for. Including this blog.
Happy-Late-Thanksgiving!

I’m Not Old, I’m Experienced
The best part about entering the sports world, after gaining an education from Slippery Rock University is by far the conferences we have to go to. On November 7th, 2013 I go the opportunity to network with professionals. The professionals had no experience in the sporting industry and were kind of odd acting when they realized they had no advice for me and some of my fellow class mates. Actually the best part wasn't the networking with professionals, but rather meeting some of the other students in other majors here at Slippery Rock University.

OK, So What’s the Speed of Dark?
Lightning fast, the year went. I swear yesterday I was filling out my brackets, and watching Louisville win the National Championship. Well college basketball is back with all the exciting action it had last year and even more. It doesn't matter who your a fan of, in the end aren't people really just fans of game? The fast-paced, unknown players and 35 second shot clock are just a few things fans enjoy about college basketball. My favorite part is by far watching the fans dress up and acting crazy while rooting on their favorite teams. Another great part of college basketball is the rivalries between schools, such as Duke vs North Carolina. The Madness has begun!

Energizer Bunny Arrested, Charged With Battery
If you don't believe me that society has gone crazy then read this:
http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/9936032/chicago-bears-fan-tasers-green-bay-packers-fan-wife
This has taken sports way too far and gambling. Honestly this makes me sick to my stomach, why would someone make a bet so stupid. It's amazing how stupid people really are! I wonder what's going to happen to their marriage; I mean it must be love, if she stays with him. It's not every day you get tasered by the one's you love.

Go Go Gadget: Blog Write Youself!
Remember the movie, "Inspector Gadget" the movie surrounding a security cop who was selected to be transformed into a cybernetic police officer. What happened to that kind of technology? I mean go-go gadget helicopters! Silly Sting! Fireworks! Its amazing to see how the future technology was viewed back in 1999 when that movie was released and how its viewed today. In modern time the lastest technology revolves around cell phones, TVs and computers, but wouldn't it be cool if we become the technology and was able to do what Inspector Gadget did?

If Practice Makes Perfect and Nobody’s Perfect, Why Practice?
No body's perfect, clearly, but after last night's zombie vs. vampire (Dolphins vs Bengals) disaster of Thursday Night Football; it clearly seems Any Dalton needs a lot more practice. I don't know if Andy Dalton was seeing ghosts or not last night, committing three interceptions and taking the safety in overtime, he certainly looked scared. It was indeed Halloween Thursday, and the Dolphins sneaked by with a overtime thriller 22-20 over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins secondary seemed to have enjoyed the treats Andy Dalton gave out last night, scoring on one of the interceptions. At the end of the game I couldn't tell if the Bengals fans were Booing Andy Dalton or just trying to scare the Dolphins? "Booooooooooooooooooooo!" With the loss, the Bengals fall to 6-3 while the Dolphins improve to 4-4 with the win.

I Either Get What I Want or I Change My Mind!
Brett Farve is coming out of retirement again? No not this time, not even money can get Brett Farve out of his longest stated retirement to date. After the St. Louis Rams franchise-hopeful quarterback: Sam Bradford, went down with a season ending injury, the St. Louis Rams showed their desperation by reaching out to 44 year old Farve, in hope that the former Packer, Jet, and Vikings' star would again bring hope to a city well in need of wins. Farve did indeed deny that he would be coming out of retirement and actually reasoned well with media stating that he's enjoyed his time with his grandson. He also noted that health concerns would be an issue if returning, focusing specifically on concussions.

Escalators Don’t Break, They Become Stairs...
I feel bad for Adrian Peterson; he's going to be one of the greatest running backs to play the game but he'll be shadowed by his team's poor performance. Currently the Minnesota Vikings (1-5), are struggling to find a leader or a quarterback to lead their franchise. The Vikings have been through countless number of quarterbacks over the years, including three different ones this year. Proven rookie Christian Ponder, former Chief and Patriot: Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman, former Tampa Bay starter have all been given a chance to complement Peterson, but as of now all have failed. Peterson needs help, offensively, if he wants a shot at the all-time rushing record, mainly because right now the Vikings are a one-dimensional team offensively.

War of 1812?
Sunday Night Football! Peyton Manning, former Indianapolis Colt and present day quarter back of the Denver Broncos will return home to Indy to face his replacement, Andrew Luck. The second war of 1812, reflecting the jersey numbers of the two quarterbacks (Manning #18, Luck #12), should be quite a show as both power-horse teams have proven that they can score some points. So will the Broncos continue their scoring roll and light up the Indy D-fence or will the Colts win with Luck.

If At First You Don’t Succeed, Call It Version 1.0
Question: is anyone even reading this? Probably not, at least I don't think so. This brings me to the understanding that blogs are becoming obsolete or out-of-date. I don't feel blogs are used to communicate anymore, rather they're just for people who feel the need to express their own opinions on certain topics. I am not the biggest fan of "blogging," but I have to. I don't feel that I should be required to blog for a grade, when really whose reading it? In my mind, I think that Twitter or Linked In are the new ways to communicate to specific people about certain topics. I'm not saying blogging is completely useless, I just think its outdated and what you can do with a blog can be done on other social networking sites.

If Winning Was Easy, Losers Would Do It...
A new trend is being set this year in baseball, people are watching winning teams. Just kidding, this has been seen time and time again, over last couple decades of baseball; that TV ratings increase when a team performance is good. Fans love watching good quality baseball, which in return usually means their team is winning. The case this year is that the high-paid salary teams aren't winning and the small-marketed teams are. For the first time in over 20 years the Pittsburgh Pirates had a winning season plus earned a trip to the playoffs. Because of this, fan are finally watching Bucco baseball on TV, sending TV ratings through the roof. On the other hand, the New York Yankees missed the playoffs for the first time in the last five years, and throughout the season fans showed their disgust for Yankees baseball by not watching the games on TV, decreasing TV ratings. Not factoring the loyal-to-team baseball fans, the TV ratings correlation with good performance is a "no brain er." Of course fans are going to watch winning teams rather than losing teams...

I CAN Watch Them!
For the first time ever, Paralympic fans can watch their favorite athletes or events live on NBC or NBC Sports Network. The U.S. Olympic Committee struck a deal with NBC, which will provide 50 hours of coverage, a mere 44.5 hour upgrade from previous Paralympic games. Another step up provided in this new deal, is that delayed-taped coverage will no longer be the case; NBC will now run live streaming of the events. I find this incredibly brave by NBC, because of the risk financially and the end result of less viewers. In my eyes, I don't find enjoyment watching the Paralympics, and really who does? The only benefit for NBC is that they can be considered "The Good Guys," because what their doing is a great cause.
Will you be watching?

New King of the Cassel?
Minnesota Vikings are ruling out Christian Ponder for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London, England. Good news USC fans, former Trojan: Matt Cassel will receive the start in hope that he can lead the Vikings to a win in the battle of the defeated. The Minnesota Vikings are win less in 2013 after making the postseason last year, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are also 0-3. Both teams are looking to turn things around in England, while the NFL is looking to cash in on the overseas game. Will the Vikings soar with a new King in the Cassel* or will the Steelers turn things around and pick up their first win of the season?
Take your pick Steelers or Vikings?

Creation of My Blog? Has A Reason.
Hello,
Slippery Rock University
My name is Dustyn David, a sophomore student at Slippery Rock University. I'm currently studying sports management, which brings me to the reason for this blog. I have been asked to create a blog in order to communicate with my fellow classmates: a term also called "networking." While completing the course: Sport Communication and Technology, I am required to commment or post about anything related to sports technology. This is also away for my classmates and I to collaborate about the lastest technology and how its used.
Introduction to Myself:
I grew up playing sports, which ultimately drove me to love all aspects of sports. I am from West Middlesex; a very small town in western PA. My ultimate goal in sport is to become a professional sports marketer, though my dream job would consist of any position with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
